SHUCK is my graduate film inspired by the folklore of two spectral dogs; Black Shuck from East Anglia and the Church Grim from England and Scandinavia. A lost soul finds herself aimless after death, until a black dog appears to guide her to her afterlife.
It is a dark fantasy film in stop-motion puppet animation, starring Heather Jacques, with sound design by Supat Kittawornrat and music by Alistair Brown. So far it has been awarded Best Animated Film in the Zepstone International Film Awards, Best film in the 22-25 category at Leeds' INDIs Festival 2024, Best Debut Fantasy at Genesis International Film Festival, given an Honourable Mention at the High Tatras International Film Festival, and been nominated for a Scottish RTS Student award. As well as this Shuck has been screened at The Fisher Theatre Folk Cabaret as part of the Black Shuck Festival in Bungay- winning first place at the 'Black Shuck and Friends' Exhibition at The Bell Gallery.
